Excellent Anglo Boer War Sites

Anglo Boer War Museum
Contains a very useful chronology as well as much detail on such Boer leaders as
Paul Kruger, Louis Botha, Christiaan de Wet and MT Steyn. A special section is given over to the development of Concentation Camps (a term that was coined during the war).

The Boer War (1899-1902)
Has maps showing the refliefs of Mafeking, Ladysmith and Kimberley.
Also special personalities such as Gandhi, Churchill, Baden-Powell (founder of the boy scouts), Conan-Doyle (Sherlock Holmes' creator), Mary Kingsley (the explorer), are looked at.
Also present are poems by Robert Service, Rupert Brooke, Thomas Hardy and Harry Harbord 'Breaker' Morant.

The Anglo boer war museum in Bloemfontein does not only give the visitor insight into the Boer War through it`s unique art collection, dioramas and exhibits but also brings the visitor closer to understanding the background against which the war took place.
