Guardiola is an excellent coach but he has always had the luxury of managing teams that were already at the top of their respective leagues (or close by) when he took over the job as Gaffer (Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Man City).
Ferguson inherited a Manchester United that was mediocre at best and turned them into a powerhouse. He did the same earlier on with Aberdeen in Scotland breaking the Old Firm monopoly.
This does not of course mean that Guardiola is incapable of carrying out the transformation but until he does so comparisons with Ferguson must either favor the Scot or remain a moot point for now.
