As a teacher I think that their should be a compulsory course on logic and critical thinking.
Key areas to be addressed would be
- The nature of logic fallacy
- Sound arguments from premise
- causation vs correlation
- Inferring motive
- How to read and interpret graphs(including trends)
- The meaning of uncertainty and error
- Science as an inductive pursuit
- Necessary vs contingent conclusions
- Understanding bias, assumptions and paradigm
